The Carlson Leadership and Public Service Center at the University of Washington operates this electronic list in order to help UW students find information about volunteer opportunities in the community. On the most basic level, volunteer work is just what it sounds like - doing service work for an organization of your own accord, without pay. Many community-based organizations depend on volunteers to assist with day-to-day operations and to carry out the mission of the organization. There are several different types of volunteer opportunities. Some positions require an on-going commitment (every Friday afternoon to answer the phone for a local crisis line, for example) while others are on a one-time basis only (helping staff an annual fundraising auction). Some positions require prior skills or completion of training for specific work. These often require a longer-term commitment. Using community_opportunities
To post a message to all the list members, send email to community_opportunities@u.washington.edu. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to community_opportunities

This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Once you have logged in, this page will automatically fill in your email address.
