I recently upgraded from 2.21 typo 2.25 "all patches" (built by me) and
everything works as before ...

... PLUS that I now have the possibilities to use a master password (I
guess that's enabled just since 2.22)

I was skeptical below about the master password, but I now find it handy
because I have 3 imap/pop servers to check each one with its own sometimes
complicated password.

A while ago I attempted to report on this mailing list, but my message
was blocked by some filter. I summarize here:

- first of all I normally read mail stored locally on my machine,
which is fetched from the imap server by fetchmail.
- I use direct Alpine-to-IMAP only for urgent checks before the
fetching or to check the spam folders which aren't fetched.

- due to change of gsuite to 2-factor-authentication (2FA), I route my
gsuite email via another provider and fetch it from there.

- alternatively I can access the gsuite IMAP from Alpine for the
urgent/spam checks using an "app password" since 2FA does not
allow usage of the normal interactive password from alpine or fetchmail

Anyhow my suggestion is to make a backup of your .pinerc before you
migrate to a new version, than compare the backup with the new one after a
real run with the new one, and check if there are new keywords and read
the help file. That's what I do.
