<BODY><P>The Associated Press seeks a Taxonomy Developer for its New York headquarters.</P>
<P>In a continuously evolving technological environment, the Taxonomy Developer:
<UL>
<LI>Develops and maintains AP taxonomy structures across media types (text, photo, graphics, video, audio, etc.);
<LI>Creates and refines Boolean rules used for automatic tagging to meet high rule accuracy standards;
<LI>Conducts regular testing of AP content tagging to measure tagging accuracy;
<LI>Works on creation and maintenance of various vocabularies and entity lists supporting AP content tagging structure to aid in the efficient retrieval, packaging and distribution of AP content;
<LI>As a member of the Information Management (IM) team, provides input into data modeling, metadata strategy, software tool development and IM workflow.</LI></UL>
<P>QUALIFICATIONS
<P>The candidate must possess:
<UL>
<LI>Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail;
<LI>Strong analytical skills;
<LI>Willingness to independently and quickly learn new software tools;
<LI>Flexibility in a technologically changing environment;
<LI>Strong verbal and written communication skills;
<LI>Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment;
<LI>Solution-oriented approach;
<LI>Master of Library and Information Studies with demonstrated interest in automated data processing;
<LI>Boolean rule and/or complex search query writing experience;
<LI>Familiarity with taxonomy management, auto-categorization and search tools (Teragram and SchemaLogic preferred)
<LI>Taxonomy and/or controlled vocabulary development and management experience, including familiarity with best practices;
<LI>Data modeling experience preferred;
<LI>Experience creating metadata or metadata standards preferred;
<LI>Experience working with software development teams a plus;
<LI>Familiarity with news reporting style, news transmission standards and media industry a plus.</LI></UL>
