Columbia Estuary Report - 9/3/2000

A PRAIRIE FALCON was seen chasing a RUFF on Saturday.
The RUFF was originally seen on the Friday afternoon
hightide with a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER. The RUFF was
still being seen Saturday afternoon.

SOOTY SHEARWATER numbers are building off the SJCR as are
BROWN PELICANS. Pelicans can be found up river to at least
Tongue Pt east of Astoria. A LONG-TAILED JAEGER and
a PARASITIC JAEGER were seen on Saturday.

Bucky Barnett reports 5 ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS at his feeder
acting territorial. This is early, by his records for
fall arrival of Anna's Hummingbird in his yard.

A WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was with CANADA GEESE on Wireless Rd
Sunday. Geese are beginning to congregate in the fields
around Youngs Bay including the following collared birds:
White with black letters
51XD
76C1
80C1
Black (possibly dark blue) with white letters
AJA
