Today in the Ship Canal in Seattle I believe I saw a THAYER'S GULL. This would be very unusual, would it not, as they summer in the far north? It had a red dot on the mandible, purple legs, and dark gray wingtips with white spots. It was hanging out in the water by the Ivars restaurant -- there are always ducks and geese there.
