Heading for work this morning, at about 7 a.m. we were driving south on
Roosevelt just north of 50th St. NE, and there came a female Osprey heading
north not very far above the tops of the utility poles, carrying a huge
stick in its feet! I pulled over and walked back along Roosevelt looking
for the nest but saw neither the bird nor an obvious place for a nest.
What was it doing there? Many birds add material to their nests
constantly, so it could be carrying nesting material even this late in the
season--but on Roosevelt?
