This is the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society Bird Alert for March 28,

LONG-BILLED CURLEWS have returned to the Lower Columbia Basin as of March
17. Reports to the alert came from Sandra Haun who saw 4 curlews in a
field near Hanford High School in Richland from March 20 to 22 and Mike
Lilga who found 3 curlews near Battelle on March 22.

Ruth Fischer reported a WESTERN BLUEBIRD near her Richland home on March
21. On March 22, Nancy LaFramboise saw 8 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS on the top of
Hills West in Richland.

On March 22, Sandra Haun observed a VIRGINIA RAIL and a SORA from the bird
blind at McNary National Wildlife Refuge in Burbank.

At Columbia Point in Richland on March 23, Bob Woodley found 12 HORNED
GREBES and 8 TREE SWALLOWS.

Pat Rutherford is enjoying birds at her Richland yard including 2 CEDAR
WAXWINGS and a RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD on March 24.

Also on March 24, Laurie Ness observed a TURKEY VULTURE on the Pasco side
of the I-182 bridge.

Spring has sprung with the return of AMERICAN AVOCETS to the Yakima Delta.
Bob Woodley observed 2 there on March 25. Nine were there on March 26.

At the Yakima Delta today, March 28, Bob Woodley found 3 CASPIAN TERNS and
17 AMERICAN AVOCETS.
