Hello All,
MerryLynn and I ventured into the field today in hopes of locating at least one scoter in Columbia Co. in the rain.
Our first stop was at the down stream base of Little Goose Dam along the fishing wall. Birds of note were as follows:
Bonaparte's Gull.........21 birds
Western Grebes.........6 birds
D.C. Cormorant...........3 birds
Wilson's Warbler..........1 ad. male
Our next stop was Texas Rapids Park, Columbia Co.
Barn Owl..........1 ad.
Yellow-rumped Warblers.....12 birds
Our next stop was Lyons Ferry Park, Franklin Co.
Great Egret.........1 ad.
Brown Creeper.....1 ad.
Barn Owl..............1 ad.
Harris' Sparrow......1 sub. ad. first of the fall season
White-throated Sparrows.....2 sub. ad.
Bonaparte's Gull.........5 birds
Dayton,Columbia Co.
Blue Jays........9 birds at the corner of Hanan Street. & S. 5th Street. This is the largest number of Blue Jays we have ever seen at once in Washington State. These birds are coming into three large oaks loaded with acorns. There may well be more than the nine birds we counted as birds are coming from all over the area to collect these acorns.
Stellers Jay.....2 birds
Red Crossbill....6 birds
Townsends Solitaire...3 birds
It was a good day even with the rain and cooler temps.
Later Mike
