Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
On April 6 a female BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was seen on Skinners Butte
in Eugene. The Coburg FALCATED DUCK is still being seen, but the Bend HAWK
OWL has not been seen since March 30.
YELLOWHEADED BLACKBIRDS arrived during the week, along with good numbers of
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS and COMMON YELLOWTHROATS. A few BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLERS were also reported.
On March 31 three PURPLE MARTINS were at Tenmile Lake north of Coos Bay. On
March 31 two PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were on the North Spit of Coos Bay. The
wintering GYRFALCON there continues to be seen. On April 5 a probable
GYRFALCON was reported from the Nature Trail at Yaquina Bay.
A GOSHAWK was seen March 31 off Skyline Road north of Cornelius Pass, and
another was seen April 4 south of Vernonia. On April 2, 75 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS were along Farmer Road west of Baskett Slough NWR. Very large
numbers of EVENING GROSBEAKS are now on the OSU campus in Corvallis. On
April 5 a EURASIAN TEAL was at Finley NWR.
A CASSIN¹S VIREO was in Eugene April 1 and another was west of Grants Pass
April 5. On April 6 a group of VAUX¹S SWIFTS were over Eugene. Two
BLACK-NECKED STILTS were seen April 3 at Fern Ridge Reservoir.
