Re: Windermere Cups Fireworks Display - Meeting Information
The Special Events Committee (SEC) approved the permit application with
conditions but the permit has not yet been issued by the Special Events
Committee for the Windermere Cup Fireworks Display scheduled for Friday, May
5, 2006. While the SEC approved the permit application with conditions,
Parks Superintendent Ken Bounds asked me, SEC Chair, to ask the SEC to
review the application and the conditions given the concerns raised
regarding nesting birds and other environmental issues.
This special session of the SEC is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, 2006 in the
Park Board Room at the Parks Administrative Offices located at 100 Dexter
Avenue North from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. At that time, the SEC will
listen to additional information from invited environmental experts. This
meeting is an open public meeting. Since we anticipate a crowded
agenda---time is of the essence---only invited environmental experts will
The meeting's purposes are to identify what kind of species may be impacted,
what kinds of adverse impacts this type event may have on these species, if
any, and determine whether modifying the permit conditions (for example,
moving the barge) would mitigate any adverse impacts.
