On Thursday, 10/5, while waiting for the 3:35 Ferry to Edmonds I looked
around the ferry landing. Approximately 15 Double-crested cormorants, the
majority immatures. Also 12 Heerman¹s gulls resting on the pilings, and a
very large number of what appeared to be Common terns on the water to the
south as many as 100 150. And of course the usual numbers of
opportunistic Northwestern crows and Glaucous-winged gulls in and around the
parking lot. On the way over saw what appeared to be a Dall¹s porpoise
surface and roll just off the port side of the ferry about 2/3 of the way
to Edmonds. Looked like a small orca without the large dorsal.
