Highlights include the following:
* Merlin - first this year; coursing quickly in the blustery wind on
* Northern Shrike - first of the year about 50 feet from the house atop
a small Douglas-fir
* Western Bluebird - female just outside "downtown" Roy sitting on a
fence alongside the road (spotted by my wife) (not listed below) // Had
one last week near the house
* Imm. Sharp-shinned Hawk - chasing a Black-capped Chickadee around and
around a tall Douglas-fir - with the BCCH escaping by flying-diving into
a shrub thicket
* Remains of a Rock Pigeon under a Doug-fir canopy -- the Cooper's Hawk
is still active

Note: Found a second dead porcupine last week along 8th Ave S. (runs
from SR 507 through the east side of Ft. Lewis). This one was fairly
small -- the one my wife found a couple of months ago was huge.
