We live near Shoreline CC and all week have observed what looks to be an adult male yellow-bellied sapsucker mining and eating sap from our neighbor's fir tree. He hangs out alone on the same large branch all day. No vocalizations or drumming. Messier, whiter back than red-naped, whiter head. Comments from more seasoned birders?
