I am in Arizona and don't have access to historical Washington records here.
The attached photos are of the first two records of Jacksnipe for Oregon.
There are also California records. Given the secretive nature of the
species, it may turn out to be a more regular vagrant to the Pacific
Northwest than was previously suspected. I would suggest that few hunters
would bother to document an occurrence of the species. My recollection of
at least one California record is that the hunter showed the specimen to
someone because he thought it was an interesting runt Wilson's Snipe.

An Oregon snipe hunter took a Jack Snipe in Oregon in October 2004,
and a second in November 2007. He is an acquaintance of an
acquaintance of an acquaintance of mine, and through a series of
emails 7 photos of these birds were sent to me yesterday.
I've posted the photos and the report as submitted:
The photos and report will be assimilated into the records of the
Oregon Bird Records Committee. I thought it would be good to share
these as soon as possible, without comment, because there will no
doubt be a high level of interest in these records. I've asked for
more specific information on the location for where these snipe were
taken, more specific than "central Oregon coast" ............
