We made our Christmas trip to the Skagit river on Monday and was not disappointed at the sightings.

We saw Bald Eagles starting from Concrete all along the Skagit River up to Marblemount. We tried to get a count but gave up as there appeared to be a "convention of eagles in various spots". What an awesome sight. My biggest thrill was to hear them vocalizing with one another. We also saw a lot of imatures hanging out with the parents on the gravel river beds eating from the salmon carcuses.

The weather was cold and cloudy with snow on the side of the road. Our white Christmas.

We also got a special treat and stopped at The Eatery and met Tootsie Clark. The lady who bakes cinnamon rolls and takes them up to the opening day of the North Cascades Highway each spring. What a nice lady.

We then drove over to Anacortes and to Oak Harbor and on the waterfront in a park area we saw another bald eagle land to take a drink from a puddle of water (right off of the main street of town).

On the way home yesterday we stopped at Nisqually NWR and enjoyed seeing the various duck species (same that have reported from previous e-mails) and plan to go back soon.

We then drove to the dairy farm outside of Onalaska looking to see the single swan hanging out with the geese. Got to the spot but was snowing so hard unable to make the sighting. Did see a group of geese feeding.

I really enjoy the Tweeters e-mails.

Hope you all have a very Happy New Years,
