Hello all from MerryLynn,
Ginger Shoemake drove my mom and I out to the west end of Walla Walla county
today to see what we could find - and we found amazing birds!!

Touchet:
Eurasian Collared Dove - 2

Port of Walla Walla Wallula Grain Terminal/junction of 12 and 730:

RED-THROATED LOON - 1 bird - we watched this bird for 45 minutes - this is a
first county record - long overdue!! When we left it was heading northwest -
possibly into Benton County.

Common Loon - 3
Western Grebe - 45
Horned Grebe - 1
GLAUCOUS GULL - 1 adult - early arrival. This bird was alone - no other
gulls near.

Ice Harbor Dam - below dam:

PACIFIC LOON - 1 bird - rare in county
Common Loon - 1
Common Goldeneye - 22
Barrow's Goldeneye - 8 - first of fall
Lesser Scaup - 22
Greater Yellowlegs - 1 with injured leg
Spotted Sandpiper - 2 still on overflows
Dunlin - 3
Killdeer - 4
Great Egret - 1 on island
Am. White Pelican - 18 on island
Snow Goose - 1 bird in one of the many big "V's" of Canada Geese going over

Ice Harbor dam - above dam:

SURF SCOTER - 1adult female found swimming from northeast headed southwest
across in front of barriers up from dam. - -Nancy - I believe this bird came
across from Franklin County- -

Casey Pond:
Tundra Swan - 9 birds
Hooded Merganser - 6
Cackling Geese - 75+
Canada Geese - lessers - 100+

American Wigeon - 250+

Beautiful day plus that birder excitement that comes from a new county bird!

Later, MerryLynn
