[Tweeters] mystery alcid photographed in Port Townsend - can youhelp identify?

I'm no expert, but I love these challenges. I'll say it's a Pigeon
Guillemot, juvenile versus adult emerging from breeding plumage.

I have a hunch as to what it might be, but never having seen one of 
these before, I'd like to consult those who can help make a definite 
identification.
