Hello all,
This weekend we birded Walla Walla County plus a little in Columbia and
Franklin. Highlights below:

Saturday - 22nd. Walla Walla River Delta:
Franklin's Gull - 1
Red-necked Grebe - 1 - rare in county
Black-bellied Plover - 1
Semipalmated Plover - 1
Caspian Tern - 1
Common Loon - 4
Great Egret - 13
Black-crowned Night-Heron - 1 subadult
Virginia Rail - 5
Hermit Thrush - 1
Osprey - 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 3 headed north
Large movement of Barn Swallows, Yellow-rumps and WC Sparrows.

Dodd road "blood" ponds"
Sanderling - 1 a "first" for this spot!
Baird's Sandpiper - 1
Pectoral Sandpiper - 7
Least Sandpiper - 1
Western Sandpiper - 4
Wilson's Snipe - 1
Killdeer - 45+
Yellow-headed Blackbird - 2
Sandhill Cranes - 39 flyovers

Hood Park:
Turkey Vulture - 1 - unusual in county
Western Wood-Pewee - 1
Western Tanager - 1
Warbling Vireo - 1
Yellow-rumped Warblers - 300+
Orange-crowned Warbler - 4
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1

Casey Pond:
RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS - 2 females - county bird #241 for the year list -
ties the record
Greater White-fronted Geese - 1250 with 3 having red neck bands
Forster's Tern - 3
Redhead - 5
Ring-necked Duck - 12
Tricolored Blackbird - 12 flyovers in amongst 300 Red-wings in flocks of
20 - 30 birds. Distinctive call notes
Greater Yellowlegs - 1
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1

Sunday the 23rd. Jasper Mountain Walla Walla Co:
Pygmy Nuthatch - 2 birds
Brewer's Sparrow - 3
Red Crossbill - 30+
Pine Siskin - 100+
Hairy Woodpecker - 2
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1
Clark's Nutcracker - 2
Cassin's Finch - 5
Black-billed Magpie - 1 looking for "gut piles" left by hunters
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1

Starbuck - Columbia County:
MacGillivray's Warbler - 1

Little Goose Dam: (just below dam at fishing access)
Hermit Thrush - 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2
Brewer's Sparrow - 1 - weird place for this little bird
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1
White-crowned Sparrow - 5

Lyons Ferry Park, Franklin Co:

Hammond's Flycatcher - 1 at Fish hatchery

Orange-crowned Warbler - 5
