Hey tweets, just a quick note: two LEAST SANDPIPERS showed up at the
Fill today, so I guess that means spring is here. There also seems to
be another SWAMP SPARROW at the Fill - this one in the scrub just east
of the old wooden bridge. It was singing this morning and came out to
take advantage of the warm sun, until a Lincoln's Sparrow chased it
back into cover. For those born after 1980, the old wooden bridge is at
the south end of the dime parking lot (E-5). This is a good place to
check out all kinds of passerines. The large willow, and the two
smaller flowering trees near the lamp post there are famous for
attracting warblers. Years ago, this is where an American Redstart was
seen. Palm warblers have been seen in this vicinity as well, and
Orange-crowned, Yellow-rumps, and Yellows. There are a lot of sparrows
here now, and two flickers are starting up a family. - Connie, Seattle
