Hey Tweets,
I heard a report about 4 Long-tailed ducks and some Bohemian Waxwings at Redondo, so I went down there today to try for them. I can NOT confirm the report, darn it!
But I searched up and down the Sound from there, and at Des Moines Beach Park and Marina, there was an AMERICAN DIPPER right in the little stream there! Don't see one of those at sea level all the time!
There was also a nice group of WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS there, along with the RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, one COMMON MERGANSER on the shore, SURF SCOTERs, and lots of HORNED GREBE. And I saw many RED-NCKED GREBES along the sound as well.

Also today, on the way back from Ocean Shores, I stopped at Capitol Lake in Olympia. I saw at least 4 male EURASIAN WIGEON, both GREATER and LESSER SCAUP, several REDHEAD, several large groups of CANVASBACK, and scads of AMERICAN WIGEON and RING-NECKED DUCKS. just a couple NORTHERN SHOVELORS, a RUDDY DUCK, and a couple of HOODED MERGANSER. I did not see the GWF Goose.
The Swans - I saw good yellow eye-marks on 6 of the seven, confirming TUNDRA SWAN. The seventh I THINK was a TRUMPETER SWAN. It appeared larger, and had the more wedge-shaped bill. But even with a scope, they were a ways out there. Did anyone else get a better look?

It was a fun weekend! if a little damp and chilly! ;)
