Morning tweets,
For the first time in weeks, I had time to get up, get out and go birding for a little bit today. Hopped on the bus and got down to the University and walked around the shoreline until I got to the Union Bay Natraul Area (aka Montlake Fill or UBNA). I only had an hour or so, but I listened hard and got to 39 species down. The best bird was the Lazuli Bunting singing along the trail toward the service road. Such a gorgeous little fella! I got some wonderful looks from ~30 yards away while he was singing about 15 feet up in a young cottonwood.
Other good birds down there this morning included Caspian Terns hunting, Common Yellowthroats singing, Virginia Rails skulking, and Wood Ducks playing hide-and-seek in the lilies. Cheers!
