Took an out-of-town friend to Spencer Is. today banking on the prediction for sun. It was cold and foggy, eventually turning to cool and cloudy. The consolation, though, was a lovely white-striped White-throated Sparrow a couple hundred feet to the right after you cross the river (not the pedestrian/bike trail, but the lower one) in the blackberry bushes on the right side of the trail.

There was nothing else unusual, just a nice selection of other winter sparrows, 2 Coopers--adult and juvenile--harriers, and a red-tail. The only shorebirds were LB Dowitchers. Ducks were mostly GW Teal and Mallards, though there were lots of Ruddy Ducks, coots, and shovelers at the sewage ponds.

I'd still like to know what happened to the sun!
