This thread about the competition between Scrub Jays and Steller's Jays has interested me because both of them have been present, and relatively abundant in the Hundred Acre Woods (NE Lakewood, Pierce County) for the entire 5+ years that I have been conducting bird surveys there.  The Scrub Jays are more common, probably due to the large numbers of Oregon White Oaks on the site, but I have often seen the two species perched within a few feet of each other without incident.  I always assumed that this was because there is such a bountiful food supply there.  As an aside, it is always a pleasure to visit the site because one of the first birds I see each time is a Scrub Jay, coming over to check me out as soon as I arrive.
Peace, Rolan
