This morning Jenee Gravelle and her husband (hope I got that right) found an
immature Broad Winged Hawk at Bassett Park in Washtucna. A little later in
the morning Randy Hill and I got brief-but-adequate views of the bird. Seems
it was being harassed by the resident Am Kestrel. It soon soared high and
out of view to the south. Way to go Jenee.
This was my first trip to this wonderful park. Randy said it was slow and
while there no eastern warbler rarities to speak of, the continual activity
of the more common Washington species was a lot of fun, though I'm sure I
also got a brief look at a female plumaged Am Redstart.
On my "way home" the Davenport Cemetery was pretty slow with one Hermit
Thrush and there was a Black Bellied Plover at Audubon Lake in Reardan
(found earlier in the day by Jim Acton).
