[Tweeters] Wood duck invasion continues

I live next to a pond and also have a mini Wood Duck invasion going on. They move so fast and were mixed in with the Mallards so it was hard to get a good count, but I think there must have been at least twenty of them in the yard. In addition, the yard was filled this morning with Gold Finches, Red-winged Blackbirds, Stellar Jays, and Flickers. A Green Heron then flew in and sat in my cherry tree watching all the birds and activity. He seemed to be saying: Hey, there is a party going on and nobody invited me. The party ended abruptly when a Coopers Hawk flew in.

This morning at feeding time I counted 88 WOOD DUCKS at my pond! About 75% were drakes with many in full plumage. They have also learned how to eat out of my bird feeder. There were 20 of them on and around it this morning.

Also at the feeder were 3 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, the first ones this fall. Of course my friendly juvenile male PILEATED WOODPECKER shows up 2 or 3 times a day and is quite tame. You can see several pictures of him at my website; www.photos.rlkimages.com and click on the woodpecker album.
