Seattle Audubon field trip today January 25 Renton to Auburn:

 

We had a few snow flurries and it was chilly all day, but nevertheless we
tallied 74 species.

 

Highlights include an immature female NORTHERN GOSHAWK that perched nicely
for us from the Grassy Knoll at the GRNRA in Kent, plus a brief flyby view
of the resident RED-SHOULDERED HAWK there.

Ten WESTERN MEADOWLARKS across the field nw from the Boeing Ponds.

Just one adult TRUMPETER SWAN that sailed into the pond at the GRNRA visible
from the northwest tower and one GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE flying with a
small group of Canada Geese at the Cedar River mouth.

Hardly any gulls at all!

An adult PEREGRINE FALCON at Emerald Downs and a male AMERICAN KESTREL along
West Valley Highway south of 277th (Smith Bros. Dairy).

Two WESTERN SCRUB-JAYS at the usual spot along the southern loop of Frager
Rd.

A pair of EURASIAN WIGEONS at the old Toysmith pond.
