Today, a lone turkey vulture was flying west to east ahead of a snow
front at approx. 150 feet. It was gliding rapidly preceeding a 30-40
mph wind gust over a field adjacent to and south of Holland Rd. So
much for "riding the thermals", as when last seen, it was shooting
toward the Strait.

Last night, at about 7:45, a barred owl called seven times from the
woodland/marsh that crosses Holland Rd. near Graysmarsh, only the
second time I've heard this species in the area. Other notes that may
be of interest, there was a flock of about 30 tree swallows at the
ponds near 3 Crabs yesterday, and a lone rhinoceros auklet off the
Marlyn Nelson Co. Park boat landing a few days ago.
