Tweeters: An update from this afternoon at Magnusson Park: Between 3 and
4:30 pm Friday, the few birders present had nice views of the Acorn
Woodpecker. As previously reported, park in the first parking lot on your
left as you enter the park eastbound on 65th. The bird favors the line of
oak trees on the east edge of this lot, and a tree with prominent snags that
is across the road just south of the line of oaks. We also heard reports of
a Wilson's Snipe in one of the many new small ponds, and a Greater
White-fronted Goose in the larger most-westerly new pond. We saw a juv.
Cooper's Hawk perched on a snag/trunk that stands between the more westerly
ponds, and had a Red-tailed Hawk fly quickly by the site. Plus, it's always
nice to meet the birders who turn out to see these unusual visitors.
