Hello, sat and watched the ocean this morning from several of the beaches not too far south of Westport. Conditions were kind of wild as evidenced by multiple LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS tippy-toeing across the wet sand and shallow puddles up on the higher beach, well away from where the waves were crashing ashore. Dozens of RED PHALAROPE were being blown about, a handful of SOOTY/SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATERS were down on the sand, where the waves lapped at their feet and an adult SABINE'S GULL zipped through, right along the beach to round things out. RED PHALAROPE were also evident around Westport marina and another LEACH'S STORM-PETREL was battling winds at the edge of the Westport Airport and pizza joint.
It was fun.
