Chased the birds reported in the Woodland Bottoms by Ken Knittle yesterday. Found the Rough-legged Hawk on the ground just short of where Dike Road meets the Lewis River. Found two Surf Scoters (male and female) and one White-winged Scoter in mixed raft of Lesser Scaup and Western Grebe in the Columbia where the flushing channel pumping station is. Was looking for the Black Phoebe when Wilson Cady and his wife drove up, soon to be joined by Tom Finn. No luck initially so we went and refound the Scoters Came back and found the Black Phoebe. Called it up with a recording and it settled down on top of the cab of a white truck in front of the newer metal building at 1321 Dike Road. Had a Peregrine Falcon fly by while looking for the Black Phoebe and sighted a couple of Snow Geese in a flock of Cackling Geese settling on to Burke Island
