This past Saturday, 11/5, Kendrick and I saw a RUSTY BLACKBIRD sitting
on a telephone wire, along with several BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS at the
Samish West 90, I believe someone had reported seeing one sometime
last week near the Skagit Game Range.

Speaking of the game range, we spent quite a long while observing a
large flock of GREATER YELLOWLEGS there. A PEREGRINE FALCON spooked
them briefly.

At the Hayton Reserve, a huge flock of SNOW GEESE were feeding very
close to the parking lot, making close observation easy. And we were
treated to a nice show of a couple of SHORT-EARED OWLS hunting in the
field by the water. (saw a couple of more of these owls at the West
90.) A WESTERN MEADOWLARK, and one LINCOLN'S SPARROW were also
spotted at the reserve.

In the Bow-Edison area, we heard and saw a nice flock of TRUMPETER
SWANS flying above us.

Other birds included one COPPER'S HAWK, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, a ROUGH-
LEGGED HAWK, male and female RING-NECKED PHEASANTS, and a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW.

Several GREAT BLUE HERONS, BALD EAGLES, NORTHERN HARRIERS and RED-
TAILED HAWKS were seen throughout the day.

What a great weekend for birding!
