Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 13,. Id you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.

A male BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was seen October 8 about 20 miles west of
Newport. A female BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was seen October 8 at the EE
Wilson SWA north of Corvallis. On October 9 a BROWN THRASHER was at Malheur
NWR Headquarters. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was along Smithfield Road north of
Baskett Slough NWR October 8. Another was at the Winchuck River mouth
October 11.

Heavy migrations along the coast included BROWN PELICANS, CALIFORNIA,
HERRING, THAYER¹S, and HEERMANN¹S GULLS. The most conspicuous movements
inland included VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, VARIED THRUSHES, WHITE-FRONTED GEESE,
and TURKEY VULTURES.

On October 5 a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was at Coos Bay. A CLARK¹S NUTCRACKER
was seen October 9 at Beaver Creek SNA north of Waldport. Two FRANKLIN¹S
GULLS passed Boiler Bay October 9. An early ROCK SANDPIPER was at Seaside
October 9. That day 30 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River.

A SNOWY EGRET, PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER, and a SABINE¹S GULL were at
Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland during the week. On October 1 a
TOWNSEND¹S SOLITAIRE was in Gresham. A dazed window hit POORWILL was at
Clackamas October 8. Two SABINE¹S GULLS and three COMMON TERNS were at Fern
Ridge Reservoir during the week.

On October 8 a BROAD-WINGED HAWK passed the Green Ridge Hawkwatch Station. A
POORWILL was near Sisters October 6. On October 9 a SURF SCOTER was at the
Prineville Sewage Ponds and five were on Prineville Reservoir. A SABINE¹S
GULL was at the LaGrande Sewage Ponds October 10. The next day a PARASITIC
JAEGER was at the ponds.
