FWIW, there are a series of interviews with Sandy Komito of The Big Year fame at http://www.nabirding.com.  Topics include his run-in with Debi Shearwater, Mr. Pants, chasing rarities, etc., and I've been told there are more to come.  These are from recorded phone conversations, so you get to listen to Sandy tell the stories in his own voice.  Fascinating, at least to me.
