[Tweeters] Ocean Shores Geese, Owls, Places to Say

You could also try the casino which is on the right less than a mile after you turn off to Ocean Shores. Last winter they had winter rates but we had a free night coupon from another casino and they honored that. They were honoring all player card discounts from other casinos. Don't know about this year. The accommodations were pretty much motel standard which is to say Ok but nothing to write home about. There's a pool and hot tub etc and of course the gambling if you are into that but the buffet was expensive so we went downtown for dinner. It's a place that's worth stopping for shorebirds anyway. The beach trail is to the left of the casino, (while facing it) There is a little stream you cross which the shorebirds often use as a birdbath.
Life is for the birds.

I'm a birder from the East who recently retired to the San Juan Islands. I'm planning trip down to Ocean Shores on Tuesday with the aim of seeing the Emperor and Greater White Fronted Geese (as well as Snowy Owls and alcids). Has anyone seen these birds there (or anywhere else in WA or BC) recently? Advice on where to stay in Ocean Shores would also be most welcome.
