Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
The HOODED ORIOLE wintering at an Seaside feeder continues to be seen.
On January 22, 52 HARLEQUIN DUCKS and 36 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were at Cape
Arago near Coos Bay. On January 20 winter storms brought 13 RED PHALAROPES
to the North Spit of Coos Bay. A COMMON REDPOLL is now wintering at a feeder
north of Coos Bay.
PINE SISKINS continue to increase in the Willamette Valley. The Albany SNOWY
OWL was seen January 21 near the Albany High School.
The Broughton Beach/Portland Airport SNOW BUNTING continues along with up to
60 HORNED LARKS. On January 24 seven BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were reported in the
Overlook area of North Portland. A few REDPOLLS are now being seen in North
and Northeast Portland. On January 22 a male BARROW¹S GOLDENEYE was on the
Willamette River in Portland. The Tualatin River NWR EMPEROR GOOSE continues
to be seen. The BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK wintering at an Eugene feeder
continues to be seen.
The BRANT at the Deschutes River State Park continues to be seen. On January
25 a BOHEMIAN WAXWING was in Bend. On January 25 a GREAT EGRET was at the
Redmond Sewage Ponds. Four REDPOLLS are now being seen in Klamath Falls.
