Hello All,

This morning MerryLynn and I were joined by Jim Parrish and Nat Drumheller up Nine Mile Canyon where we relocated a flock of 200 Common Redpolls and one very noticable, very pale HOARY REDPOLL. These Redpolls have not been seen since the 17th. We will head out again in the morning to try for photos. We then headed for the Walla Walla River Delta where we located an adult Northern Shrike, a Mew Gull, a sub-adult Glaucous Gull , 130 Dunlin, 2 Least Sandpipers. We then headed for the poop piles where we located 3 Tricolored Blackbirds, one Mew Gull and 3 Glaucous-winged Gulls, 10 Herring Gulls and 32 Bald Eagles out on Badger Island. We moved west to the Two Rivers HMU where there were 3 Red-breasted Mergansers. 20 Cackling Geese were at McNary NWR, HQ ponds, there were 4 Black-crowned Night Herons at MP300. Just off the Wallula Grain Terminal were 375 Canvasbacks, 50 Lesser Scaup and 12 Wood Ducks. And the most unexpected species of the day was an adult SANDHILL CRANE along HWY 12 at the Green Valley RV resort which is east of Wallula Junction five miles. This amazing bird was found and photographed by Nat Drumheller. On our way home we took Gardena Creek Rd and discovered a sub-adult HARRIS' SPARROW which puts us to 130 species for the year in Walla Walla County. Then saw a Merlin. I would like to thank Ken Knittle for posting this morning.
