[Tweeters] Boundary Bay on Thursday

Hi, Tweets

My son and I went up to Boundary Bay today and the owls were most all
still around and stationary. Maybe 20 cars, quiet, orderly people,
for the most part (on the dike). Considering that about eight owls
were spread along near the dike and a similar number were out near
the bay on driftwood, there were people wandering out to the bay
area. A small "field trip" went in between for better looks at the
dike owls and one photographer caused an owl to fly. Some uncalled
for, but no bad behavior while we were there. Besides the 16 owls
clearly seen, there were probably more. It was a lovely day with no
wind and bald eagles everywhere in trees - one tree with 7 eagles.

Behind us in a field there was a small thermal catching an adult bald
eagle and harrier. Both went round and round slowly up and within a
few feet of each other with absolutely no sign of agression. They
then went their separate ways. An interesting moment.

Near Semiahmoo we saw quite a few brant, a variety of ducks and a
long line of cormorants. Nothing spectacular, but a nice day of birding.

Cheers, Diann
