Hi all,

There was a report of a possible Red-flanked Bluetail in New Westminster, BC on Jan 13 to one of the BC yahoo groups. The observer was unable to identify the bird, but based on sketches and the written description, Mike Toochin and Gary Clulow thought it could be a Bluetail. It was at Queen's Park, and here's the observer's description of the location:

"From the petting zoo, go northeast across the little road into an area of tall conifers that is just adjacent to a tree nursery. The bird was moving around trunk bases, and then perched a short time on a large fallen log (one of two large logs lying together near a clump of salmonberry brush). Hopped down between the logs, perched in the salmonberry brush."

Local birders will be looking for it at dawn tomorrow (probably today by the time you read this).

I believe the Brambling in Vancouver is still being seen, but a Baikal Teal that was seen by a single observer a few days ago has not been refound.
