Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On March 21 an EASTERN PHOEBE was seen on the North Spit of Coos Bay.

BARN SWALLOWS are now being seen mixed in the swallow flocks. On March 19
two ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were south of Grants Pass. One was at Langlois
March 23. PURPLE FINCHES are now being reported from many areas. SANDHILL
CRANES are now peaking on Sauvie Island. The first COMMON YELLOWTHROATS were
seen March 25 at Finley NWR and Coos Bay.

On March 21 a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was found at the end of Sundial Road north
of Troutdale. Another was seen the next day at Baskett Slough NWR. A
MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was at Powell Butte Park near Gresham March 20. On March
19 one was on Marys Peak in the Coast Range. A male EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED
TEAL was reported March 24 at the Koll Center Wetlands in Beaverton. A dark
HARLAN¹S RED-TAILED HAWK was near Banks March 21. An early CHIPPING SPARROW
was in Silverton March 23. On March 21 four pairs of CINNAMON TEAL were at
Baskett Slough NWR. Three ROSS¹S GEESE were at Finley NWR the next day. On
March 25 a SAY¹S PHOEBE was at Oakridge. On March 25 a BRANT was among a
goose flock near Gervais.

In a goose gathering at Houston Lake near Powell Butte March 22 were 1100
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, four SNOW and two ROSS¹S GEESE, and eight CACKLING
GEESE. On March 21 a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was at a feeder near Sisters.
Another was visiting a feeder in LaGrande March 25.
