hi all:

it appears the peregrines at snoqualmie falls will not produce any young
again this year. it's nearly april and no sign of an egg anywhere. there
has been nuptial and copulatory behavior over the late winter and early
spring. the female's feathers are patterned slightly differently this year
with more barring and less of the salmon/buff wash on the upper chest she
usually exhibited this time of year. she also appears a bit less bulky as
well (i fed more baby parrots over the years than i care to remember -- one
gets a feel for how much bird body is under feathers, especially when the
feathers are ruffled, so i don't think i'm making this up). scott dodson
got some nice video of her yesterday that can be found by adding the string
/watch?v=4ZS-fAc13Ek to the you tube url.

i had thought prime falcon real estate like that at the falls would be
quickly usurped by fecund birds, but apparently that is not so. maybe
somebody knowledgeable about that will comment at some point.

sigh.

regards,

t
