Hello Tweeters!
I've taken two trips to my patch in the past 7 days (Watershed Park in
Kirkland) and I've started to get some fun signs of migration!
On the 10th and the 14th I saw a male Black-throated Gray Warbler singing
his little heart out. This is the earliest I have ever seen one in the park
(and early enough to trip the ebird rare bird filter), but they are always
around in summer! Also, yesterday I saw an Orange-crowned Warbler and a
Yellow-rumped, both only really in the park in migration! In addition to
that, the Rufous Hummingbirds are back in full force, and a group of
Violet-green Swallows were flying nearby.
Also, breeding evidence was everywhere! Hutton's Vireo, Bushtits, American
Robins, Red-breasted Nuthatches and Black-capped Chickadees were all doing
some sort of breeding behavior, from nest building to actually having a
nest. I'm excited to see baby birds everywhere again! Shouldn't be too much
longer!
Anyway, good birding, and good luck finding migrants in the next 1.5 months!
