Today there were still 8 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS on Padilla Bay in Skagit County. I viewed them from behind the Swinomish Casino off Hwy 20 east of Anacortes.

Not far away, at Channel Drive, were both YELLOWLEGS. Also, adult LEAST, WESTERN and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS. And juvenile SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS.

There was a female type BULLOCK'S ORIOLE at Telegraph Slough. This is off Hwy 20 a bit east of the casino.

The only shorebirds I could find at Skagit Game Range (Wylie Slough) were KILLDEER, SPOTTED SANDIPER and both YELLOWLEGS.

There was a shorebird bonanza at Eide Road (Stanwood).
Pectoral Sandpiper - 2 adults
SB Dowitcher - 20 adults
Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Western Sandpiper - many adults
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 3 adults
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 9 juveniles (or more)

It was interesting to see both adult and juv semis. There is a 2-3 week overlap for these 2 plumages. It was also fun to see the juv semis. They were easy to ID, since Western Sandpiper juvs don't start showing up here until about the first of August.

Too much stress and a lack of free time to muse is a prison from which one cannot easily escape.
