Hi Tweeters -
This is a bit delayed - apologies - but I figured it might still be useful for anyone headed to the NE corner of the state over the long weekend.
I did some birding last weekend in Stevens and Spokane Co - just a few of the highlights:

Stevens Co:
Grasshopper Sparrow - off Fruitland Valley Rd., at the corner of Hudspeth & Hamilton - 2 came in close to the playback
Horned Lark - one at the bare grounds just west of the Two Rivers Casino
Marsh Wren - West End Rd. Marsh - MAWR is a toughie [or was for me] in Stevens Co for some reason - nice to follow and eBird report and find them here.
Clay-colored Sparrow & Least Flycatcher - as Blair reported earlier, cooperative along Hafer Rd south of Chewelah
Lewis’s Woodpecker - Along SR 25 n of Kettle Falls, at the corner w/ Pingston Creek Rd.
Northern Goshawk - very vocal young one along Blacktail Mtn. Rd at km marker 5, in the Little Pend Oreille NWR - that road, open all the way to the summit, was very birdy all along the way

Spokane Co:
Clay-colored Sparrow - an unexpected one at Newman Lake - singing from the pull off at the north end just west of Thompson Ck rd, where the road curves north. Singing from the bushes right next to the pull-off.

American Bittern - loud at Winslow Pond in Turnbull NWR as has been eBirded -

couldn’t find a Chat in Spokane, and no luck relocating the Northern Waterthrush that have been reported earlier at Stevens Ck NA.

Enjoy the long-weekend birding,
