Yesterday was a funny field-trip day (with new friends and garden clients) to buy plants down in Poulsbo, a place I haven't been to in more than 30 years.
While at the nursery, I noted my first Turkey Vulture's of the year - three of 'em, riding the thermals North. This was followed by a long improvisational tour of the countryside on the way back to Port Townsend- art and gardening were involved.
Coming back over the Hood Canal Floatational Bridge, I spotted two little Harbor Porpoises near the bridge, out in the middle of the channel. Also FOY for me. Getting home later than planned, I plunked down on my ol' couch.
My couch has a little pressure-activated button on it, and when I sit down on it, I remember all the things I forgot to do that day. "Oh no!", I cried, "I missed The Owl and the Woodpecker show!". Yup, I forgot all about it, and now it was too late. (Thanks to PT tweeter Janine for the reminders). This was a presentation by Paul Bannick, which I keep managing to miss.
I know that Woodpecker's dig hole's, and that Owls nest in them, thereby having a connection. Well, I didn't see "The Owl and the Woodpecker", but I did see The Porpoise and the Vulture - maybe with only a vague connection except mine for the day.
