Several years ago I observed that Swainson's thrush were eating salmon
berries on my property on north Camano Island.

Since then, I've notices that there is a consistent correlation, every
year. When the salmon berries begin to ripen, the Swainson's thrush
arrive, and when the salmon berry bushes stop producing fruit, the
Swainson's thrush disappear. I'm assuming that they continue to migrate to
where the salmon berries are ripening.
