Hi Tweets,

If any of you hard-core county listers are visiting are visiting the dry side over the long weekend and want to add something weird to your Douglas county list, at least two of the Northern Mockingbirds that Meredith reported at the Chief Joseph dam debris basin were still there at 5:30 pm last night.

If you need directions, take Hwy 17 to Bridgeport. Turn onto Pearl Hill Road (toward the dam), then follow Pearl Hill to the big Debris Basin sign on Murphy Road. Left on Murphy, then bear right to the small brown nature trail sign.

We found 23 other species including a lot of ospreys, a Great Horned Owl, and some very hungry adolescent Cedar Waxwings. Weirdly, the water was low, so the only waterfowl were a skein of flyover Canada Geese and a solitary coot.
