Hello Tweeters,

I spent this morning in the Salmo Pass area and saw a few birds. Highlights were a pair of Mtn Chickadees that seemed to be foraging for nestlings, with frequent forays out and back from high in the same conifer. Not far along the Salmo Divide Trail was another pair doing the same. It seems late, but I am not familiar with Mtn Chickadee nesting habits. Also along this trail were Boreal Chickadees, both Kinglet species and juvenile White-crowned Sparrows with larger lateral crown stripes than those of birds I see in the Puget Sound area. Driving up to the Salmo lookout, I had a pair of American Pipits in the road, several other birds of smaller size that flew off before permitting identification, and a cooperative pair of Dusky Grouse in the road .1 mile from the top.

No luck there on Spruce Grouse , a target bird, but I was more than a little surprised to
