[Tweeters] Snohomish County Goose Arrivals, etc.

Saturday morning brought a huge wave of waterfowl flying upstream
(south) relatively low along the Snohomish river. Alas, I was at a
neighbors house without binoculars at the time, but a lot of the same
birds worked there way back and forth past my house throughout the
day. The vast majority were Canada Geese, but I was happy to have a
group of a few dozen Cackling Geese as well. This afternoon similar
numbers moved through headed downstream (north). This time I picked up
about 70 Cackling Geese in several groups and a single Greater
White-Fronted Goose in with the Canadas.

There have been numerous Turkey Vultures in the valley this weekend,
but they all seemed to be loafing rather than actively migrating
south. Two Vaux's Swift today may be the last I see all year. There
were good sized groups of swallows both days. A few Barn Swallows, but
most were Violet-Green. A chipping Pacific Wren in my side yard was my
fourth new yard bird for the day and my 88th yard bird since I moved
here in mid-June.
