Dear Tweeters - My husband Randy Robinson and I saw the Swamp Sparrow at
the Center for Wooden Boats on the southwest shore of Lake Union this
morning (Thurs Jan 26) about 10:45. Also there at the same time was Doug
We found the sparrow exactly as described a couple days ago by George
Gerdts. While he found the best views from the metal bridge leading to
the canoe and kayak storage area, we also had excellent views from the
end of a boardwalk along one of the smaller floating wooden storage
structures. We were looking south towards Valley Street. There was also
a Song Sparrow present. The Swamp Sparrow popped in and out of the
vegetation and ran along the shore, but we got good looks at it.
Here is a link to a map showing where to find the Swamp Sparrow:
Here is an excerpt from George Gerdts' Tweeters post:
> It was actively foraging
> (rather furtively, though) along the water line near the rotting piling and
> the orange patio tables and chairs. Best views were from the metal bridge
> leading to the canoe and kayak storage area. We arrived at 09:15 and it
> was still active when I left at 09:45.
