Hello all,

Finally got out to the Columbia and Snake rivers today - birded from
Wallula Gap to Ice Harbor Dam. Ice waaay out on the river, eagles (over
100) abundant on many kills. Plenty of waterfowl to feast on. Still 6 -
8 inches icy snow everywhere except roads clear.

The poop piles only had eagles and ravens, no gulls or blackbirds. Dodd
road feedlots mucky, hundreds of mallards, wigeon and pintails in there
along with a few thousand starlings. Just a few Brewer's Blackbirds and
1 Red-winged is all we could find. Blood pond free of ice and snow but
no birds.

Ice Harbor Dam produced only 3 gulls and 15 pelicans, waterfowl numbers
way down, many eagles and hawks predating on the birds there.

Eureka flat area still too snow-covered for larks and buntings - haven't
had a winter like this for several years!

More snow forecast for tonight - from seemingly perpetually foggy Walla
Walla, MerryLynn
